OVERALL MISSION OF THE JOB

           

Measures and monitors equipment conditions, analyses trends, and identifies the needs for maintenance (electrical & instrumentation and mobile equipment), considering production constraints to sustain and improve plant reliability.

 

Contributes to the best level of performance of plant’s equipment.

MAIN ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Maintain in depth knowledge of the condition of all plant equipment on a continuous basis.

 

  1. Ensure the planned inspection and maintenance of all plant equipment and initiate work orders based on inspection results, including safety checks. In case of anomaly, performs first analysis and defines priorities for each action.

 

  1. Monitor and co-ordinate condition predictors, for all critical equipment

 

  1. Follow-up and update preventive maintenance schedule

 

  1. Validate and update equipment specification files and history sheets.

 

  1. Evaluate and improve the preventive maintenance job-plans (from supplier’s recommendation if existing), create and update the corresponding inspection job-plans, in co-ordination with the planner.

 

  1. Contributes to the analysis of  failures and problems, recommending corrective actions

 

  1. Proposes economic ways to extend the life of plant equipment

To execute the maintenance activities which have been scheduled with the aid of a crew of tradesmen. The Executor is responsible to ensure that tasks are performed in a safe, productive and timely manner, while continuing to improve company and employee relationships within the context of the collective agreement and company policies.

Should encourage employee involvement, through communication, training and performance feedback and constant evaluation of the employee and the plant needs.  These activities are completed in such a way that reliability is maximized, and costs are minimized.

Key Responsibilities

 

  1. More specifically, as the E&I Engineer the incumbent will, as part of the operational function:

  1. Provide detailed information for the preventive maintenance files.
  2. Ensure adequate feedback on repair jobs including materials used and specific repairs made.
  3. Record man-hours used on repair jobs for statistical purposes.
  4. Provide technical assistance for other departments as well as for his group.
  5. Participate in and lead problem-solving/RCFA task forces as required
  6. Must be knowledgeable in the operation of the plant and its equipment.
  7. Maintain up to date records/history in Computerized system.
  8. Ensure the equipment is available and in good operating condition to meet the needs of the plant production requirements.
  9. Implement new and improved ideas for better performance of plant equipment.
  10. Ensure safe working conditions while executing any maintenance activity.
  11. Assist in the implementation of parts to be ordered and their delivery requirements.
  12. Control welding supplies, consumable & steel budget.
  13. Assist in controlling and organizing contract work.
  14. Keep your respective sections clean and safe.
  15. Responsible for internal control effectiveness monitoring for the processes in the domain of job responsibility.

 

Personnel

 

  1. Be sensitive to policies, productivity, safety, training and development, employee relations, etc.
  2. Assign jobs to crew members, taking into account knowledge, qualification, and classification.
  3. Ensure motivation of employees through proper delegation, participation, recognition and follow-up of suggestions and will further ensure that crew members are treated in a fair and equitable manner.
  4. Responsible for assigning overtime, overtime equalization, job continuation etc., as may be applicable.
  5. Ensure compliance with safety practices and procedures, availability of safety equipment and that first aid treatment is provided when required.
  6. Conduct a monthly Safety meeting with participation from all crew members, ensure actions have or will be taken on items of concern. A review of all the new Incident Investigations for that time is a mandatory component of the monthly safety meeting. Review the minutes with all employees absent from the meeting.
  7. The incumbent will also provide support to the dept. HOD and/or initiate or act as a resource in the areas of employee performance, absenteeism, grievances and disciplinary actions.

  1. Maintain a high standard of work ethics within the collective agreement.
  2. Provide comprehensive training for crew members were required.
  3. Put into effect shift changes for the crew members as per equipment availability.
  4. Monitor the crew members’ performance and encourage improvements where required.
  5. Be prepared to supervise another section in the absence of one of the other Executor.
