Job Description: Corporate Affairs – Ahmedabad
Role Summary:
The role is responsible for managing external affairs and regulatory liaison for the company’s operations. This includes interface with government departments, regulatory compliance, community engagement, and representation at external forums to safeguard and enhance the company’s license to operate and reputation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Government & Regulatory Liaison
- Serve as the primary liaison with government bodies: Industries, Environment, Labor, Mines, Railways, Electricity Boards, etc.
- Ensure timely submissions, renewals, and tracking of statutory licenses, approvals, and NOCs.
- Monitor and interpret policy and regulatory developments relevant to the cement sector and proactively inform internal stakeholders.
2. Statutory Compliance & Approvals
- Coordinate clearances related to land acquisition, water usage, air and noise pollution, mining, forest permissions, and township matters.
- Ensure adherence to compliance requirements under legal metrology, industrial packaging, environmental norms, and pollution control.
- Maintain a master compliance calendar of all statutory interactions, inspections, and renewals.
3. Community & Local Administration Engagement
- Establish and nurture working relationships with local authorities: District officials, village panchayats, law enforcement, NGOs, and local influencers.
- Address local grievances, law & order issues, and communication gaps that could disrupt plant operations.
- Collaborate with the CSR team on community development programs aligned with company objectives and stakeholder expectations.
4. External Communication & Advocacy
- Draft and coordinate official communication (letters, representations, statements) to government agencies, regulators, and the media.
- Represent the company in industry associations, regulatory forums, and public hearings.
- Support corporate reputation by managing external risks, preempting regulatory issues, and handling crisis communication in coordination with corporate affairs leadership.
5. Documentation & Recordkeeping
- Maintain up-to-date, audit-ready documentation for all government permits, correspondences, and approvals.
- Facilitate smooth conduct of audits and inspections related to external and regulatory matters.
- Prepare regular MIS reports, dashboards, and trackers for senior management on compliance status, pending approvals, and government interactions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Graduate/Postgraduate in Law, Public Administration, Political Science, or Business Management
- Experience: 5-7 years in corporate affairs/external relations/government liaison, preferably in the cement, mining, or broader manufacturing sector
- Prior exposure to the cement/mining/manufacturing sector will be given preference
